I have met with my carefree Lord and Master, the treasure of virtue. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Leaning only on other people will not hold you up.

You, my Master, are my only support.

I have let go of every other hope.

For I have met the carefree One, the treasure of all that is good.

People matter, but only the One is a foundation that never gives way.
The deeper layer

Birthaa bharvaasaa lok — reliance on lok (people) alone is empty. Not a rejection of people, but a caution against making fragile things your foundation. Achint thaakur: the carefree (unworried) Master, guntaas, treasure of virtues, is the support that does hold.

A Question to Sit With

What is something steady you can lean on when people can't be there?
