Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are the one merciful Master, and no other.

You are the guide, the messenger, the wise teacher.

You are the keeper of every heart, the giver of fairness,

more sacred than any holy book could hold.

The living One is greater than any single book that points toward it.
The deeper layer

The One is dilaa kaa maalak, the master of hearts. The living One is greater than any single book that carries word of it, and no scripture is set above another.

The names here come from Muslim devotion: ma-ulaa (Master), peer (spiritual guide), paikaambar (prophet), saykh (sheikh), with reverence for the Kuraan and the katayb (the revealed books).

A Question to Sit With

What is a book or teaching that points you toward something bigger than itself?
