Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O friend, sing the praise of the One who holds the whole world.

The true One's speech, beyond all words, is perfect; dwelling on it, your own light merges into the great Light.

Your own inner light is a spark of one great Light it can return to.
The deeper layer

Jotee jot samaanee: your light merges into the Light, the small flame finding it was always part of the one fire. It is a coming home. Akath kathaa is the unspoken speech, the truth too deep for ordinary words.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

When do you feel most connected to something much larger than yourself?
