The Guru is the Great Giver, merciful and forgiving.

O slave Nanak, is blessed with perfect destiny. ||4||36||47||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Guru is the Supreme, the Guru is the Lord of the whole world.

The Guru is the great Giver, kind and always forgiving.

Nanak, the servant, says: whoever's heart holds fast to the Guru's feet

is blessed with the most complete good fortune there is.

Holding fast to the Guru is its own kind of good fortune.
The deeper layer

Gur parmaysar gur govind: the Guru is one with the Supreme, the source of all. Daataa da-i-aal bakhsind: Giver, merciful, forgiving, generous and quick to pardon. Pooran bhaagaa: the heart that clings to the Guru's feet has complete fortune, received as grace.
