The Ocean in a Little Cup

saagar tari-o baachhar khoj.
I have crossed over the world-ocean, as if it were no bigger than a calf's footprint on the ground.
khayd na paa-i-o nah fun roj.
I shall never again have to endure suffering or grief.
sinDh samaa-i-o ghatukay maahi.
The ocean is contained in the pitcher.
karanhaar ka-o kichh achraj naahi. ||3||
This is not such an amazing thing for the Creator to do. ||3||

In plain words

I have crossed the huge ocean of the world as if it were no bigger than a calf's hoofprint in the mud.

Suffering and grief will never trouble me again.

A whole sea can fit inside a small cup —

and for the Maker of everything, that is no surprise at all.

The thing you dread crossing can turn out to be smaller than you feared.
The deeper layer

Saagar tari-o baachhar khoj — the ocean crossed as easily as a calf's hoofprint in mud. And sindh samaa-i-o ghatukay maahi, the sea contained in a pitcher: the vast made small, the impossible made light. For the One who made the ocean and the cup, there is nothing strange in it at all.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that once looked huge and scary but shrank once you faced it?
