Every Knot Cut Loose

darsan paykhat ho-ay nihaal.
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, I am enraptured.
jaa kee Dhoor kaatai jam jaal.
The dust of His feet snaps the noose of Death.
charan kamal basay mayray man kay.
His lotus feet dwell within my mind,
kaaraj savaaray saglay tan kay. ||1||
and so all the affairs of my body are arranged and resolved. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Just seeing the Guru fills me with joy.

The dust of the Guru's feet snaps the net of death.

The Guru's lotus feet live in my mind,

and so everything in my life is set right.

The right presence in your heart can untie the knots that fear ties.
The deeper layer

Even the dust of the Guru's feet, the humblest touch, cuts the net that death and fear throw over a person. With the Guru settled in the mind, daily life falls into order.

Jaa kee dhoor kaatai jam jaal: the jam jaal is the net of death, an old image for the fear that binds people. Lotus feet are a picture of something pure and gentle that you hold close.

A Question to Sit With

When your mind is calm, how does the rest of your day tend to go?
