Sleeping Sound and Easy

ਨੀਦ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਲਾਗੀ ਭੂਖ ॥
need suhaylee naam kee laagee bhookh.
One who feels hunger for the Naam sleeps in peace.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ॥੨॥
har simrat binsay sabh dookh. ||2||
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, all pains are dispelled. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When you hunger for the Naam, your sleep is sweet and sound.

Remembering the One, every pain goes away.

A settled heart makes for easy rest.
The deeper layer

Need suhaylee — peaceful sleep. A lovely, ordinary image: the mind that longs for the One (naam kee laagee bhookh, a hunger for the Name) is a mind at rest, and rests well. Peace of heart shows up even in something as simple as a good night's sleep.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you fall asleep peacefully at the end of a hard day?
