The Lord, Har, Har, seems sweet to the Gurmukh, who merges in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Friend, through loving the One, peace comes.

To one who faces the Guru, the One, Har Har, tastes sweet, and that person melts into the Naam, Har Har, like sugar into water.

*Love the One, and peace comes as the Naam grows sweet.*
The deeper layer

Loving the One brings peace, and the Naam grows sweet.

This is the rahaa-o, the pause line at the center of the shabad. Raam bhagat sukh paa-ee-ai means devotion brings peace. The gurmukh, one who faces the Guru, finds the One meethaa, sweet. Har har naam samaa-ee-ai means one merges into the Naam. Think of sugar stirred into water: it disappears, and the whole glass turns sweet.

A Question to Sit With

What's something that felt hard at first but turned sweet once you gave your heart to it?
