ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਅਉਧੂ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੧॥

One who dies in the Shabad and conquers his mind is the true hermit; he understands the Way of Yoga. ||21||

The one who dies in the Word and masters the restless mind is the true hermit,
who understands the way of yoga, the way of union.
Master your own restless mind, and you have learned the most important skill.
Sabad marai man maaray — dying in the Word (letting the ego die away) and mastering the mind; jog jugat veechaaree — understanding the jugat (method) of yoga, of union. To "die in the Word" is to let the "me first" self melt into the Guru's Word, and that is the way of union.
