The Flute of the Whole Universe

ਪਰਪੰਚ ਬੇਣੁ ਤਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਗਨਿ ਪਰਜਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
parpanch bayn tahee man raakhi-aa barahm agan parjaaree. ||5||
He plays the flute of the universe in his mind, and lights the fire of God. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The heart plays the flute of the whole wide universe,

and kindles a bright inner fire of the divine.

You carry an instrument big enough to play the whole universe: your own heart.
The deeper layer

Parpanch bayn — the flute (bayn) of the entire cosmos (parpanch), played within the mind. Barahm agan parjaaree — lighting the fire of the divine. The instruments keep turning inward: the whole universe is the melody, and the heart is where it is played.

A Question to Sit With

What makes your heart feel wide open, as if it could hold everything?
