Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 92
Verse 13 of 28

Let the Word Settle Your Wandering

ਧਾਤੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧੨॥
Dhaatur baajee sabad nivaaray naam vasai man aa-ee. ||12||
Restrain your restless wanderings through the Shabad, and the Naam will come to dwell in your mind. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The mind loves to run around like a restless game with no end. Let the teaching gently rein it in.

As the running settles, the Name quietly moves in and makes a home in you.

When the running settles, peace moves in.
The deeper layer

Dhaatur baajee shabad nivaaray — the Word calms the restless “play” of the roaming mind. When the running stops, naam vasai man aa-ee: the Name comes to dwell within.

A Question to Sit With

What does your mind chase when it won't sit still?
