Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 92
Verse 15 of 28

Washed Clean by the Name

ਨਾਮਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧੪॥
naam isnaan karahi say jan nirmal sabday mail gavaa-ee. ||14||
Those who cleanse themselves through the Naam, are the most immaculate people; through the Shabad, they wash off their filth. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The people who bathe in the Naam — remembering the One — are the cleanest of all.

Through the Word, they wash away the dirt that gathers on a heart.

The Name rinses the dust off a heart.
The deeper layer

Naam isnaan — bathing in the Name makes a person nirmal (immaculate). The shabad washes off mail, the film of ego-dust. Cleanliness here is entirely inward.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel clear inside again after a hard day?
