The Worship That Cannot Be Described

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
raamkalee mehlaa 3.
Raamkalee, Third Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਦੁਲੰਭ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
har kee poojaa dulambh hai santahu kahnaa kachhoo na jaa-ee. ||1||
It is so hard to obtain that devotional worship of the Lord, O Saints. It cannot be described at all. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O saints, loving worship of the One is so hard to find, and so precious.

It cannot be put into words at all.

The deepest kind of love is felt, not described.
The deeper layer

Poojaa means worship, and worship of the One is dulambh — hard to obtain, precious, beyond describing. From here on, worship moves away from outward ritual and toward something inward and given.

A Question to Sit With

Has something ever mattered so much to you that words felt too small for it?
