A Good Kind of Hunger

tin saachay naam kee sadaa bhukh laagee gaavan sabad veechaaree. ||13||
They always feel hunger for the True Name; they sing and contemplate the Shabad. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

They always feel hungry for the True Name — the good kind of hunger that keeps you reaching.

They sing, and they think deeply about the Word.

Some hungers are healthy — they keep you reaching toward what is good.
The deeper layer

Sadaa bhukh laagee — an ever-present hunger for the Name. Not every hunger is a lack to be pitied; this one is the healthy, alive longing that keeps the devotee singing and contemplating. The wanting and the being-filled are not opposites here but partners.

A Question to Sit With

What is a longing you have that makes your life better?
