Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 94
Verse 19 of 31

A Body Turned to Gold

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧੮॥
kaa-i-aa kanchan sabday raatee saachai naa-ay pi-aaree. ||18||
Imbued with the Shabad, the body becomes golden, and loves only the True Name. ||18||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Colored through and through by the teaching, the whole self turns golden — bright and precious.

And it loves one thing above all: the True Name.

Soaked in the teaching, an ordinary life turns golden.
The deeper layer

Kaa-i-aa kanchan sabday raatee — the body becomes kanchan (gold), dyed by the Shabad. This echoes the paaras of P2: what was ordinary metal is now gold. And the transformed self saachai naa-ay pi-aaree — loves only the True Name. Transformation and love arrive together.

A Question to Sit With

What is something ordinary that becomes precious when you pour your love into it?
