Receiving the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru, I remain satisfied and fulfilled. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

From the Guru I received a treasure — the Naam.

Now I am satisfied and full, and I am not hungry for more.

When you receive the treasure of the Naam, the endless wanting quiets down.
The deeper layer

The Name is a treasure that fills us up, so we stop being hungry for more.

Naam khajaanaa gur tay paa-i-aa means "I received the treasure of the Name from the Guru." It is a gift. It cannot be bought.

Taripat rahay aaghaa-ee means "I stay satisfied and full." The restless wanting ends. Think of a big, warm meal after a long day outside. You push back from the table, happy, and you want nothing more.

This is from an Ashtapadee of the third Guru, Guru Amar Das. An Ashtapadee is a longer song, often of eight verses.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that leaves you fully satisfied, not wanting more?
