The Turning of Season and Life

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਆਪੇ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਈ ॥੭॥
aapay maar jeevaalay aapay tis no til na tamaa-ee. ||7||
He Himself kills, and brings back to life; He does not have even an iota of greed. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One Itself brings a life to its end, and the One Itself brings life again.

And there is not a speck of greed in the One.

The One who holds every ending and beginning asks nothing back.
The deeper layer

Aapay maar jeevaalay — the One holds both the closing and the opening of life, the way every season ends and another begins. Til na tamaaee — not an iota of greed: the Giver gives freely.

A Question to Sit With

What is something given to you freely, with nothing expected in return?
