In plain words

When we forget the One and wander off down some other road, life can turn hard and painful in ways we never chose.

It becomes a long, restless way round — going in circles, never quite arriving anywhere that feels like home.

Forgetting the One doesn't doom you — it just sends you the long, hard way round.
The deeper layer

Forgetting the One sends us the long, hard way around.

The verse uses strong pictures. It speaks of a terrible hell, of countless punishments, and of wandering from womb to womb, one life after another.

The meaning we can live with is simple. When we forget the Name and walk another path, life becomes harder than it needs to be. We go in circles and never reach home.

Think of ignoring the map on a road trip. You drive for hours, pass the same gas station three times, and still aren't there. The way home was open the whole time.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever taken the hard way to something because you forgot the simple way?
