Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This holy book is the home of the One.

Those who sing the praises of the One in the Sangat come to know the One fully.

A holy book is a place where the One lives.
The deeper layer

A holy book is a place where the One lives.

Pothee is the sacred book, and parmaysar kaa thaan means the dwelling-place of the Supreme One. The words of the sacred are where the One can be met, close up. SaaDhsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — and pooran barahm gi-aan, the complete knowing of the One, ripens naturally there. This reverence for the sacred word belongs to every tradition that has ever treasured a scripture.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt that words on a page were more than words — that something alive was meeting you through them?
