Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I was lost in a wide, empty wilderness, and the saint pulled me out and showed me the path home.

Nanak says: the moment I saw the One, the old dust of my mistakes washed away — and I found the jewel of the One.

The jewel is uncovered the moment you turn toward it.
The deeper layer

The saint led the singer out of a wilderness (udi-aan) and showed the path; one look toward the One washed off the old dust, and a jewel (ratan) was found. The jewel is near, uncovered the moment you turn.

A Question to Sit With

Who has helped show you the way when you felt lost?
