Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Mother, I am filled up, almost dizzy, with love for the One.

My mind thirsts to see the beautiful One, the way you thirst for water. No one can break this bond.

Some bonds are so strong that nothing outside can break them.
The deeper layer

A love for the One can be so strong that nothing can break it.

This is the pause line, the rahaa-o, the center of the shabad.

Maa-ee ree means "O mother." The speaker turns to a mother to share a big feeling. Paraym kee khor means being filled up, almost dizzy, with love. The heart thirsts for darsan, the sight of the beautiful One.

Then the verse says plainly: sakat na ko-ee tor — no one can break this. Think of the bond between you and someone who loves you. Arguments, distance and time cannot undo it. Some bonds are so real that nothing outside can touch them.

A Question to Sit With

What is a bond in your life that feels unbreakable?
