The Truest Thing There Is

paraa poorab jisahi likhi-aa birlaa paa-ay ko-ay.
How rare is that person who has such pre-ordained destiny, to find the Lord.
ravan gun gopaal kartay naankaa sach jo-ay. ||2||102||125||
Chanting the Glorious Praises of the Creator, the Lord of the Universe - O Nanak, this is Truth. ||2||102||125||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Rare and lucky is the heart that finds the One.

Nanak says: singing the praises of the Creator, the maker of everything — this is what is true.

Singing of the Creator is the truest thing there is.
The deeper layer

Rare is the heart that finds this; and singing the Creator's praises is named Truth itself (sach). What is rare stays open to anyone; few turn toward it.

A Question to Sit With

What is the most true-feeling thing you do?
