Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My Master, I lean on your feet.

You are my closest friend and my family. I am with you. You keep me safe, Lord of the whole world.

You are mine, and I am yours — here and everywhere, you keep me safe.

You are endless, beyond every limit, my Master. By the Guru's grace, a few come to know you.

You are mine and I am yours — the belonging runs both ways.
The deeper layer

The One is best friend, companion, and protector, and the bond runs both ways — too hamro ham tumray, you are mine and I am yours, kept here and hereafter. The One is right beside you.

The refrain (rahau) and the first verse of this two-part Dupade sit together here.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to know someone is completely on your side?
