ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚਿ ਨ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
deen da-i-aal sadaa dukh bhanjan taa si-o ruch na badhaa-ee.
God is Merciful to the meek, forever the Destroyer of fear, and yet you do not develop any loving relationship with Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਜਗਤ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥
naanak kahat jagat sabh mithi-aa ji-o supnaa rainaa-ee. ||2||1||
Says Nanak, the whole world is totally false; it is like a dream in the night. ||2||1||

The One is gentle with those who feel small, and quietly loosens the weight of sorrow — and yet how easily we forget to grow close to that One.
Nanak says: the whole rushing world is like a dream you have at night, vivid while it lasts, then gone by morning. So hold it lightly, and hold the One close.
Hold the passing world lightly, and hold the One close.
Jagat sabh mithi-aa ji-o supnaa rainaa-ee — the world held too tightly is like a night's dream, vivid and then gone. So hold life lightly, and hold the One close.
