Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is found, and self-conceit is eliminated from within. ||5||

In plain words

When you live from Truth, the endless restlessness of chasing and losing quietly comes to an end.

Serving the Guru brings a lasting peace, and the puffed-up look-at-me feeling drains away from the inside.

Lasting peace has room to arrive once the puffed-up self drains out.
The deeper layer

Lasting peace comes when the puffed-up self drains away.

Aavaa gaun means coming and going — the old idea of being born again and again. The verse says that restless round has ended. It feels like the endless loop of chasing things and losing them finally settling down. The True Word has become dear to the mind.

Jin vichahu aap gavaa-i-aa means "those who lose their self-conceit from within." Think of a balloon puffed full of air, bumping into everything. When the air slowly comes out, it can finally rest. When the look-at-me feeling drains away, peace has room to arrive. Serving the Satguru, the True Teacher, brings that lasting peace.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed how much lighter you feel when you stop trying to impress?
