Fed Before We Arrived

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਕਥਾ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਚਾਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥
ghat ghat kathaa raajan kee chaalai ghar ghar tujheh omaahaa.
In each and every heart, the Story of our Sovereign Lord is told; in each and every home, they yearn for Him.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਕਰਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੪॥
jee-a jant sabh paachhai kari-aa parathmay rijak samaahaa. ||4||
Afterwards, He created all beings and creatures; but first, He provided them with sustenance. ||4||

In plain words

In every heart the story of the One is quietly telling itself; in every home there is a longing for it.

And here is a tender thing: before it ever made a single living creature, it first made sure there would be food to feed them.

You were provided for before you ever arrived.
The deeper layer

The One's story lives in every heart, and food was made before anyone was made to eat it.

Ghat ghat kathaa raajan kee chaalai means the King's story runs in every heart. Ghar ghar tujheh omaahaa means every home longs for You.

Parathmay rijak samaahaa means "first, the food was provided." Only after that were living beings made.

Think of parents setting up a nursery before a baby is born: the crib, the blankets, the milk. Care comes first. It was there before we were.

A Question to Sit With

What was already prepared for you, by someone, before you were even born?
