Whoever is disrespectful to the humble servant of the Lord, shall be swept away and destroyed. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One keeps its loved ones safe and wraps them in the honor of its Name.

And any cruelty aimed at its humble, gentle ones does not stand — it simply washes away, like a scribble in the sand when the tide comes in.

Cruelty toward the gentle has no lasting foothold.
The deeper layer

The One keeps loved ones safe, and contempt for the humble does not last.

Har bhagtaa kar raakhay apnay means the One protects those who love the One and treats them as family. Deenee naam vadaa-ee means the One gives them the honor of the Name.

The second line speaks of those who show avgi-aa, contempt, toward a humble servant of the One. The verse says they are swept away. This is a promise that cruelty toward gentle people has no lasting hold. It washes away, like a line drawn in sand when the tide comes in, while the protected stay.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

Why do you think kindness tends to outlast cruelty in the end?
