In plain words

The Naam of the One is a treasure, and living close to it brings a quiet, steady peace. Keep the pure Naam on your lips and in your heart, and you walk home with honor — the kind no one can take.

The Guru's Word is the Naam itself, so you settle it deep in your heart. Your thoughts flit around like a restless bird, and steady attention on the Guru lets that bird come to rest. Nanak says: when the One is kind, your love tunes itself to the Naam.

Your restless thoughts settle when you rest your attention gently on what is true.
The deeper layer

Pauri 4. The Name is a treasure (nidhaan). The mind is a fluttering bird (mat pankhayroo) brought to rest by meditation on the true Guru. When the One becomes merciful (aap da-i-aal ho-ay), loving absorption (liv) tunes to the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your busy mind finally settle, like a bird landing after flying?
