Night and day, and the stars in the sky shall vanish. The sun and the moon shall vanish.

The mountains, the earth, the water and the air shall pass away. Only the Word of the Holy Saint shall endure. ||1||

In plain words

One day even the stars will fade. The sun, the moon, day and night as we know them — all of it, someday, gone.

The mountains, the oceans, the very air will change and pass away. But the true Word — the deep truth the wise ones live by — that stays. It is the one thing time cannot wear out.

Everything that seems permanent will change — so anchor your trust in what lasts.
The deeper layer

Even the stars pass. The word of the holy stays.

Nis baasur nakhi-atar binaasee — night and day and the stars will pass. Gir basuDhaa jal pavan jaa-igo — mountains, earth, water and air will go. These are the most permanent-seeming things there are, and on a long enough scale all of them are passing.

Ik saaDh bachan atlaaDhaa — only the word of the holy holds firm. That word is sach, Truth. Think of a sandcastle and the bedrock under the beach. Tides take the castle every day. The rock stays.

A Question to Sit With

If almost everything changes, what would you most want to build your life around?
