In plain words

My home is Yours, and You are my Master. The Guru took away my loud sense of "me" and gave me You instead.

Nanak says: I found You with easy calm, in the home of my own heart. Love for the One is a treasure that overflows and never runs out.

The deepest treasure is a natural ease already waiting inside your own heart.
The deeper layer

The peace you are looking for is waiting inside your own heart.

Guru Arjan first says that everything in his home belongs to the One. Then he says the Guru took away his hau, his ego, the loud sense of "me, me, me."

With that gone, he found the sahaj ghar. Sahaj means natural, easy calm. Ghar means home. So it is a home of easy peace.

The treasure, bhandaar khajeenaa, is love for the One. It is not far away. It is right inside the heart. Think of looking all over the house for your glasses while they sit on your head.

A Question to Sit With

When do you feel most at ease inside — not excited, just quietly at home in yourself?
