The Guru has taken hold of my arm, and linked me to God's service. My Beloved Lord is forever merciful to me. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The words of my Beloved taste sweet to my mind.

The Guru took me by the arm and set me to serving the One. My Beloved is kind to me, always.

When love leads you by the arm, doing good stops feeling like a rule and starts tasting sweet.
The deeper layer

Misat, sweet — the teaching is tasted as sweetness. Baah pakar, taking by the arm, is a tender image: being led, gently. Dhola is an affectionate word for the beloved, unusually warm — the divine here is a dear one who is sad da-i-aal, forever kind.

A Question to Sit With

Whose voice or words feel sweet to you — the kind you would happily follow?
