Fearless are those traders who deal in meditation on the Lord of the Universe. O Nanak, the Lord's Name is their capital. ||2||12||35||

In plain words

Every other deal I chased brought worry and sorrow behind it.

But those who trade in remembering the One walk without fear.

Nanak says, the Naam is the treasure they carry, and it cannot be lost.

Anything you can lose comes with worry; the one thing that cannot be lost sets you free from fear.
The deeper layer

Every other deal comes with worry, but remembering the One is a trade without fear.

Guru Arjan often talks like a shopkeeper. He uses words like vaapaaree, a trader, and raas, the money you start a business with. His point is simple. Most things we get come with worry, because they can be lost. A new bike can be scratched. A toy can break.

Gobid bhajan means remembering and praising the One. It is the one trade that leaves you nirbhai, without fear. Its treasure is the Name, and nothing can take it away.

A Question to Sit With

What are some things you own that you worry about losing — and what is something no one could ever take from you?
