Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਓਅੰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਪਹਿਲਰੀਆ ॥
o-aN pari-a pareet cheet pahilaree-aa.
My consciousness has loved my Beloved God, since the very beginning of time.
ਜੋ ਤਉ ਬਚਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਉ ਮੈ ਸਾਜ ਸੀਗਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo ta-o bachan dee-o mayray satgur ta-o mai saaj seegree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When You blessed me with the Teachings, O my True Guru, I was embellished with beauty. ||1||Pause||

My heart has loved the One from the very beginning, long before I could even name it.
And when You gave me Your word, my Guru, it was as if I was dressed up and made beautiful, ready at last.
The love in your heart has been there from the very beginning, waiting to be remembered.
Pahilaree-aa — from the first, from the beginning of time; the love is original, remembered from long ago. Saaj seegaree-aa — made beautiful, adorned — the old image of a soul readied by the Guru's word (bachan). Being made beautiful means becoming who you already, deeply, are.
