ਏਕੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਏਕੈ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਏਕੈ ਧੁੰਧੂਕਾਰੋ ॥

The One Lord is manifest and radiant; the One Lord is hidden and mysterious. The One Lord is abysmal darkness.

aad maDh ant parabh so-ee kaho naanak saach beechaaro. ||2||31||54||
From the beginning, throughout the middle and until the end, is God. Says Nanak, reflect on the Truth. ||2||31||54||

In plain words

The One is out in the open in everything bright and visible — and also folded quietly inside what is hidden, even in the deep dark we cannot see into.

Nanak says: from the very start, all the way through, right to the end, it is the same One, holding it all. Think on what is True.

The same One fills the seen, the unseen, and everything between.
The deeper layer

Ekai pargat, ekai gupta, ekai dhundhookaaro — the One as revealed, as hidden, and as the formless dark before things take shape. Guru Arjan sweeps every category into the single reality: aad madh ant — beginning, middle, end — is the One. To saach beechaaro is to reflect on this as the one true, enduring thing.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you notice the One most — in bright, obvious things, or in quiet hidden ones?
