Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without the One, I cannot live, not even for a moment.

Whoever finds joy in the One finds every peace, whole and complete.

Joy rooted in the One is a peace that does not run out.
The deeper layer

Not even a moment without the One — and joy in the One brings every kind of peace.

Bin parabh rahan na jaa-ay gharee means "without God I can't stay even a gharee." A gharee is a short stretch of time. Think of trying to hold your breath. You can't go long before you need air.

Sarab sookh means all peace. Pooran means complete and whole. That peace belongs to the one whose sukh, whose joy, is rooted in haree, the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Joy rooted in things that come and go comes and goes too. Joy rooted in the One stays.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feel you cannot do without — and where does your deepest peace come from?
