The One Who Clears the Way

ਆਪਿ ਮਹਾ ਜਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਪੰਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਕਾਮ ॥
aap mahaa jan aapay panchaa aap sayvak kai kaam.
He Himself is the Great Being; He Himself is the Leader. He Himself accomplishes the tasks of His servant.
ਆਪੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮ ॥੧॥
aapay saglay doot bidaaray thaakur antarjaam. ||1||
Our Lord and Master destroys all demons; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||1||

In plain words

The One is the greatest of all and the truest leader, and it quietly takes care of the things its loved ones cannot manage alone.

The inner troubles and fears that seem so fierce — the One clears them away like shadows in the morning. And it knows your heart completely, better than you know it yourself.

The inner troubles that feel fierce clear like shadows in the morning light.
The deeper layer

Doot bidaaray — scattering the “demons” — is read here as the clearing of inner obstacles: fear, anger, the grip of craving, which loosen in the One’s presence. Antarjaam — the Inner-knower who searches hearts — is intimate rather than watchful: the One knows you fully and is on your side.

A Question to Sit With

What is a fear that feels big at night but smaller in the light — and what helps it shrink?
