Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You, the One, are my friend, my companion, my breath of life.

My mind, my wealth, my soul and my body are all Yours. This body is sewn together by Your blessing.

There is no part of you that did not come as a gift.
The deeper layer

Meet sakhaa har paraan — friend, companion, breath — the same tender intimacy that runs through this whole set of shabads. Ih tan seeto tumrai dhaan — this body sewn together by Your blessing — is a homely, beautiful image: the self held together like cloth stitched by a caring hand.

A Question to Sit With

If you saw yourself as a gift held together with care, how might you treat yourself and others?
