The Only Wealth That Lasts

raam naam ratan Dhan sanchahu man tan laavhu bhaa-o.
So gather in the jewel, the wealth of the Lord's Name; love God with your mind and body.
aan bibhoot mithi-aa kar maanhu saachaa ihai su-aa-o. ||1||
You must realize that all other wealth is false; this alone is the true purpose of life. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Gather the jewel, the treasure of the Naam, and love the One with your body and your whole mind.

Know that all other riches pass, like cheap dye that washes off. This alone is the true purpose of your life.

Most riches wash off like cheap dye; the Naam keeps its shine.
The deeper layer

The Naam is the one treasure that lasts.

Raam naam ratan dhan — the Name as jewel-wealth; aan bibhoot mithi-aa — all other wealth is unreal, washing off. Saachaa ihai su-aa-o — this alone is the true purpose. It is the lasting set against the passing.
