Those who live truth shine at the One's court, speaking truth and only truth. Deep in their hearts is the True Word, and through it they come to know their own self.
When they truly know themselves, they know the True One — an understanding that comes only from truth.
True is the Word, true is its glory, and peace comes only from what is real. Colored in truth, loving hearts are dyed in one color only — no other shade takes hold. Whoever carries this gift within receives the True One.
This verse says that knowing yourself and knowing the One turn out to be the same thing.
Aap pachhaaneh taa sach jaaneh: when you truly recognize your own self, then you know the True One. Why? Because the same One lives inside you and everywhere else. Look deeply at a single drop of ocean water, and you learn what the whole ocean is made of.
Saach ratay bhagat ik rangee, doojaa rang na ko-ee: those who love the One are dyed in one color, and no other color takes hold. Soohee is the raag of deep red, like a bride's dress. The picture is a cloth dyed so well that the red never fades or washes out. That is one steady love.
The closing words mastak likhi-aa mean "written on the forehead." They point to grace already at work. This gift is received, not earned.
What is one true thing you have learned about yourself that helped you understand the world better?
