By great good fortune, one finds such a Guru, meeting whom, the Lord God is known.

The sins of countless lifetimes are erased, bathing continually in the dust of the feet of God's Saints.
har Dhoorhee naa-ee-ai parabhoo Dhi-aa-ee-ai baahurh jon na aa-ee-ai.
Bathing in the dust of the feet of the Lord, and meditating on God, you shall not have to enter into the womb of reincarnation again.

Grasping hold of the Guru's Feet, doubt and fear are dispelled, and you receive the fruits of your mind's desires.
har gun nit gaa-ay naam Dhi-aa-ay fir sog naahee santaapai.
Continually singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall no longer suffer in pain and sorrow.
naanak so parabh jee-a kaa daataa pooraa jis partaapai. ||2||
O Nanak, God is the Giver of all souls; His radiant glory is perfect! ||2||

In plain words

By great good fortune you find a Teacher like this — and meeting them, you come to know the One.

The weight of long-carried mistakes lifts when you keep humble, honest company and hold the One close.

Holding the Teacher's guidance, doubt and fear run off, and the heart's real wishes come true; singing and remembering, sorrow no longer settles in. The One is the Giver of every life, and His glory is complete.

Humble, honest company lifts the weight a heart has carried a long time.
The deeper layer

har sant dhoorhee nit naapai — bathing in the dust of the Saints: humble, reverent company as a cleansing. baahurh jon na aa-ee-ai, release from the cycle of coming-and-going. fir sog naahee santaapai: sorrow no longer torments — the emphasis is relief and steadiness, not fear.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you feel lighter and more hopeful just by being around them?
