binvant naanak nit naam japee-ai jee-o pind jin Dhaari-aa. ||4||4||7||
Prays Nanak, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord forever; He is the Support of the body and soul. ||4||4||7||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In plain words
My home is made, the garden and the pool are made — and the One, my Sovereign, has come to meet me.
My heart is dressed in beauty, my friends are glad, and together we sing songs of joy.
Singing and remembering, every wish is filled; those who rest at the Teacher's feet stay awake and glad, praise ringing in them. The One, who brings peace, has set right both this life and whatever comes — so keep the Name close always, the support of body and soul.
A life rooted in the One is made whole — this world and whatever comes.
The deeper layer
This verse is a song of joy when something beautiful is finally finished.
Mayraa ghar bani-aa ban taal bani-aa: my home is made, the garden is made, and the pool is made. On the outside, it celebrates the community's sacred place being completed. On the inside, it is a life that has become whole. Think of the day a family finishes building a home and everyone gathers to celebrate.
Halat palat savaari-aa: this world and the next are both set right. Being well now, and being well onward, go together.
Sadaa jaagay means always awake. Those who stay close to the Teacher's feet have a glad, alert steadiness. They are awake to what matters.
