Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One spread shade over me like a great canopy, and the restless heat inside cooled all the way down.
The old house of sorrow came down, and everything came right.
When the One's flow moves through a life, trouble lifts and goodness grows. So keep the One in mind — sleeping, sitting, standing — the treasure of every virtue, the ocean of peace who fills all things. In His shelter, there is no other.
This verse says the One's care is like cool shade on a burning hot day.
Chhaa-i-aa chhatarpat keenhee: the One gave me shade under a chhatar, a royal canopy held over a king. It stands for protection and honor. Saglee tapat binaasee: all the heat went away. The heat here is tapat, the burning of wanting more and more.
Think of stepping off a scorching playground into the shade of a big tree. Everything inside you calms down.
Sovat baisat khali-aa: remember the One while sleeping, sitting and standing. Remembering is not only for special hours. It is woven into every part of an ordinary day. That is how the everyday becomes sacred.
What cools you down inside when you feel hot with worry or wanting?
