Shalok, First Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਦਰਾ ਮਾਲ ਕਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ਆਣਿ ॥
naanak badraa maal kaa bheetar Dhari-aa aan.
O Nanak, the bags of coins are brought in
ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖੀਅਨਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਦੀਬਾਣਿ ॥੧॥
khotay kharay parkhee-an saahib kai deebaan. ||1||
and placed in the Court of our Lord and Master, and there, the genuine and the counterfeit are separated. ||1||

Nanak says: the bags of coins are brought in and set down in the Court of the Master.
There the genuine coins and the fake ones are tested and sorted apart.
In the end, the genuine and the fake are sorted apart.
A shalok of the First Mehl. badraa maal = a bag of coins, the deeds of a life. In the Court (deebaan) the counterfeit (khotay) and the genuine (kharay) are tested. It is a picture of clarity more than fear: what is genuine holds up when it is examined.
