What We Really Leave Behind Is Love

ਭਾਈ ਬੰਧ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਹੇਰਾ ॥ ਓਇ ਭੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਾਢੁ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
bhaa-ee banDh kutamb sahayraa. o-ay bhee laagay kaadh savayraa. ||2||
Even relatives, family and friends begin to say, "Take his body out, immediately!"||2||

In plain words

When someone we love completes their time here, the world around them keeps moving, and that can feel strange and tender all at once.

But the love does not disappear. The kindness a person gave, the warmth they shared — those stay alive in every heart they touched. Love is what truly remains.

A body is temporary, but the love a person gives stays alive in every heart it touched.
The deeper layer

This one means that when a life ends, the love it gave is what remains.

bhaa-ee banDh kutamb sahayraa — brothers, relatives and family, all the people close to us. The verse says that when a person dies, even they soon say the body must be taken away.

That can feel strange and tender. The world keeps moving. But across the whole tradition, another truth stands beside this one. The love a person gave lives on in every heart they touched.

Think of a grandparent's recipe that the family still cooks. Each time, their warmth fills the kitchen again. Love is what truly remains.

A Question to Sit With

What is a kindness someone gave you that still lives on inside you?
