The Speech Beyond Words

har kee akath kathaa sunhu jan bhaa-ee jit sahsaa dookh bhookh sabh leh jaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Listen, O humble Siblings of Destiny, to the Unspoken Speech of the Lord; it removes all anxiety, pain and hunger. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Listen, my friends, to the story of the One that words can never fully hold.

Just taking it in eases your worry, softens your pain, and quiets the hunger that never seemed to stop.

Some truths are too big for words, yet listening for them still calms the heart.
The deeper layer

There is a story about the One that words can never fully hold, and just listening to it brings peace.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the song. Har kee akath kathaa — the akath kathaa, "the story that can't be told." It sounds like a puzzle. It means telling something bigger than any words.

Sunhu jan bhaa-ee — "Listen, friends." Listening deeply is the key.

Sahsaa dookh bhookh sabh leh jaa-ay — it takes away sahsaa, worry, dookh, pain, and bhookh, hunger. Think of your favorite song at the end of a hard day. You can't explain why, but you feel lighter.

A Question to Sit With

What is something too big to fully explain, that still brings you peace?
