Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I keep my eyes on the greatness of the One I love.
You are the Giver of peace, warm and loving through and through.
The cure for pretending is to keep your eyes on what is truly good.
This is the Second Pause (rahaa-o doojaa) that closes the shabad, turning from the critique to praise. tumH sukh-daatay purakh subhaa-ee — after all the talk of pretense, the resting place is simply gazing at the One who gives peace. The cure for pretending is not shame but this: looking at what is truly good.
A Question to Sit With
When you look at something genuinely good, how does it change how you feel?
