The Mind That Won't Yet Learn

ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥
kabhoo na samjhai agi-aan gavaaraa.
The ignorant clown will never understand.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bahur bahur lapti-o janjaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Again and again, he becomes engrossed in entanglements. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

There is a part of the mind that just will not learn — not yet.

Over and over, it wraps itself back up in the same tangles it just escaped.

The same tangle keeps catching us until we finally learn to see it.
The deeper layer

A second Rahao refrain within this long shabad. kabhoo na samjhai agi-aan gavaaraa — softened from harsher wording; the point is bahur bahur lapti-o janjaaraa, the repeating loop of getting re-tangled. The compassion is that this is a stage, not a sentence — the mind can still wake.

A Question to Sit With

What is a mistake you have made more than once — and what finally helped?
