In plain words

When I keep the One in mind, no fear can lay a hand on me.

So forever and ever, my heart stays turned toward the One.

Keeping the One in mind is a shelter no fear can reach.
The deeper layer

Guru Arjan is saying: when I remember the One, fear can't get hold of me.

Jaa kai simran kachh bha-o na bi-aapai means "remembering Him, no fear can grip me." Bha-o is fear. Remembering is like a shelter. Think of being tucked in bed during a thunderstorm. The storm is still loud, but you feel safe.

Sadaa sadaa naanak har jaapai means Nanak keeps remembering, forever and ever. The answer is simple: keep going. The shabad ends where it is safest, inside remembrance, with no fear.

A Question to Sit With
