Verse 2 of 5

Seeing Everyone as One, That Is the Yogi

ਗਲੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
galee jog na ho-ee.
By mere words, Yoga is not attained.
ayk darisat kar samsar jaanai jogee kahee-ai so-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who looks upon all with a single eye, and knows them to be one and the same - he alone is known as a Yogi. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You can't reach it just by saying the right words out loud.

The one who looks at everyone with the same kind eyes, and truly feels that we are all one — that is the real seeker.

Seeing everyone as equal is the truest kind of practice.
The deeper layer

The Rahao: galee jog na ho-ee — it isn't won by mere words; ayk darisat kar samsar jaanai, the one who sees all with a single, equal eye is the true seeker. Equal vision is the heart of union.

A Question to Sit With

How could you look at someone very different from you with the same kind eyes?
