In plain words

I went out searching for that place, the way you would hunt for something you had lost.

And after all my looking, I found it - not somewhere far away, but in the company of good people who point toward the One. That is where I took shelter.

The place I searched everywhere for turned out to be good company.
The deeper layer

This is the heart of the shabad: I went looking for that place, and I found it in good company.

This line is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. Mayray raam ha-o so thaan bhaalan aa-i-aa means "my Lord, I came looking for that place." Khojat khojat means searching and searching.

The answer is saaDhsang, the company of good and holy people. It is not a far-off spot on a map. It is people. Think of looking everywhere for the right place to learn music, and finding it in a room full of friends who love to play together.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever searched hard for something and found it close to home?
